Executive Retreat · Moab, Utah
The Rubicon. Four days in canyon country, and the next chapter in full view.
Step out of the week and into Moab's canyon country. Slickrock by day, a ranch on the Colorado by night, and the distance to see the company and your life from the outside. You come home with the vision for the next level, the big decisions made and a plan ready for your leadership team.
By application and a qualifying call. Dates go in the order applications are accepted.
The name
Some lines you only cross once.
In 49 BC, Julius Caesar stopped his army at a small river called the Rubicon. Once he crossed it, there was no going back. He crossed.
Every company reaches a Rubicon of its own. It's the move that changes what the company becomes. A second location. The bigger work. A new market. A leadership team running the day so you can lead what's next. Moves like these take a clear head and enough distance to see the whole picture. The Rubicon is four days set aside for both, with someone who has crossed that line himself, and you come home with the plan to carry it out.
The highest level of service we offer
Clear your head. See it from the outside. Come home with the vision.
Four days, built for three things the week rarely leaves room for. A real reset, far enough from the business to decompress and think clearly. Perspective, with the company and your life seen from the outside, the way the canyon reads from the rim. And the vision for the next level, with the big decisions made and the plan for the next chapter in hand.
We study the company first
A 90-minute intake call, then our team reads your numbers, your org chart and your pipeline. Day one starts on the big questions, not on catching Michael up.
Every detail handled
A private ranch suite, private guides on the best lines in Moab and meals you don't have to think about. Your only job is to slow down and think.
You come home with the vision
The vision on one page, the big decisions made, a dated plan for the next 90 days and a message to your leadership team, recorded before you board. Your team knows where the company is headed by Monday.
The four days
Adventure by day. The big picture at the overlooks.
The working sessions are one on one with Michael, about eight hours across four days, each placed where the setting does part of the work. The rest is trail, table and sleep, and that's where the reset happens.

Basecamp
The week starts to fall away. Fly into Moab and ride up the Colorado River to a private ranch under the red rock. Phones go in a box. On the deck at dusk, you and Michael agree on the three questions the trip has to answer. Dinner by the river, then the campfire and the stars.

Slickrock
The whole company, seen from the outside. Morning on Hell's Revenge, Moab's legendary slickrock run, behind a private guide. In the afternoon, the Whole Map session puts the entire company on one wall. At sunset, a helicopter flight over canyon country, to see the land the way you just saw the business.

The Ridge
The view that sets the vision. A private guide in a built Jeep climbs to the Top of the World, a 7,048-foot overlook above the Fisher Towers and Castle Valley. At the rim, the Ridge Session: where the company goes next, what your life looks like when it gets there and the big decision that opens the way. That night, the Plan Dinner, cooked by a private chef under the stars.

The Build
The next chapter, on paper. Sunrise on the ridge, then the Next 90 Days session. The vision turned into three to five priorities, each with an owner and a date, plus the bottleneck to clear first and the first AI moves for your company. You record a two-minute message to your leadership team and fly home with the plan in hand.

Bring your partner
Your partner is welcome for the best parts.
Your spouse or partner can join for the bookends. The arrival dinner by the river, the Plan Dinner under the stars and the sunrise on the last morning. While we work, their days are their own. The spa, horseback on the ranch, a jet boat on the Colorado or a flight over the canyons. The next chapter is theirs too, and they're there to see where it starts.
- Arrival dinner and the Plan Dinner, together.
- Their own days while you work, planned for them.
- The same private ranch suite.

Questions about The Rubicon.
Do I need off-road experience?
No. Licensed local guides lead every run and drive the technical sections, and you take the wheel where you want to. Utah requires anyone who drives an off-road vehicle to take a free online course that takes under 30 minutes. We send it with your trip packet.
Is it a vacation or a working trip?
Both. About eight hours of working sessions across four days, with the rest of the time on the trail, at the table and resting. The adventure is part of the work. It's the reset that gets you far enough out of the week to see the whole company, and where it goes next.
Can my spouse or partner come?
Yes, for the arrival dinner, the Plan Dinner and the last sunrise, with their own days planned for them while we work.
What if October doesn't work for me?
Tell us on your application. Other dates, and other destinations, are available by request.
How is it different from Ridgeline?
Ridgeline is our annual off-road mastermind, where a small group of contractors works on their companies together. The Rubicon is four days built around your company alone, for owners and CEOs in any industry, to reset and come back with the vision for the next level.
What does it cost?
We cover the cost on the qualifying call.
